Pune peeps, this has to be, hands down, the best news for us on an otherwise mundane Monday morning. After ruling every nook-and-corner of Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, cafe-cum-bar-cum-workspace, Social finally graced the Pune scene a couple of months ago and if you haven't visited the place yet, here’s everything you should know.
Pune's Social Is Winning Our Hearts With Its Tunnel-Like Entrance & Trampoline Work Section
What Is It?
Feeling Social?
Social in Pune is inside Phoenix Marketcity in Viman Nagar. Despite the location, we hear the space ensures exclusivity and is designed in a way to disconnect patrons from all the hustle-bustle of the mall.
Having said that, the theme is interesting and extremely nostalgic; the interiors mirror the transition of our city’s journey from Poona to Pune. While the entrance is through a crate-lined tunnel that depicts the old market lanes of Camp and Peths, the bricked walls feature series of vintage photographs of local people, postcards, old-school newspapers and torn-dusty pages from discarded school books. There’s a red wall at a corner; a tribute to city’s post office, which although less-used, is loved and remembered by many.
Striking a balance between old and new, the ambience effortlessly embraces the modern times coupled with the ever-growing student population and dynamic architectural transformations. For instance, the amphitheatre takes the centre-stage with a ‘Kadak’ neon signage as the backdrop. Additionally, the community table is a common space for everyone to work and network, while the telephone booths and the trampoline section {with cushions} add an extra edge and quirk to the space. Needless to say, like any other Social, this one too is well-equipped with high-speed WiFi, a boardroom and wall-spaces.
Food & Drinks
The food menu features a plethora of mouthwatering street food delights presented in the most unconventional style ever. Depending on what you order, your food can arrive either on gramophone records, enamel plates or even wooden spiked boards!
Of course, there are new additions. The menu now has larger-than-life pizzas such as four cheese, chicken tikka and sausage masala and a separate section for munchies like butter garlic chilli momo and mutton seekh kebab.
The best thing is, the drinks menu has some of our all-time Social faves such as deadly LLIIT’s {Longest Long Island Iced Tea}, coke & cane, cosmo-explosion and Thai maalish.
So, We're Saying...
It may have taken Social a little while to come to Pune, but hey, we think it was worth the wait.
