Today, it serves 33 flavours of ice creams and mastanis, spread across 31 outlets in Pune.
Sujata Mastani: Why Punekars Love This 58-Year-Old Ice Cream Parlour
What Makes Sujata Mastani Awesome
Pune is nothing less than a paradise for true foodies. And if you’re a Punekar, you wouldn’t be alien to the famous Sujata Mastani which has become synonymous with the city's dessert culture. But if you are, a Mastani drink is a thick milkshake topped with a generous dollop of ice cream with slices of pistachios, almonds, and cashews.
What started as a tiny ice cream parlour back in 1967 in the heart of the city at Sadashiv Peth with a mere five flavours on display, is today, a one-of-a-kind brand serving delectable Mastani, ice-creams and thick shakes. They have around 31 outlets in the city and serve 33 flavours of ice creams and Mastanis like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Among them, Mango Mastani tops the list and has been a best seller for over 50 years. FYI, they are served in both small and big portions from 11 AM to 11:30 PM throughout the week. So, if you’re new to the city, and haven’t really gotten a chance to visit Sujata Mastani, then do yourself a favour and pay a visit to the nearest outlet to try one of their mastanis.
