Divya posted on 17 April

Since the temperature is soaring this summer, we’ve rounded up some fun indoor sports for you to stay fit:

Indoor Climbing

For top-to-toe fitness, try your hand {and foot} at indoor climbing via Rock Aliens Gym – currently the biggest indoor bouldering gym in Pune. Build strength, flexibility, and communication skills as their trained supervisors spot you while you climb. They also change the layout of the place every 3-6 months, so there’s always a new challenge for you to try. For those who want to train competitively, that can be arranged for as well. Read our full recommendation here. The fee is INR 100 per session or INR 1200 for a monthly pass.

Aerial Yoga

Yoga lovers, take your workout one step further with aerial/acro-yoga. The movements here combine traditional yoga moves, with the use of a suspended sling or hammock. We’ve heard it’s great fun, and a super way to build core strength and flexibility. Offered by Om Studio, they host classes in several locations in the city – with different timings for each location. If you’re new to yoga, don’t worry – they’ll guide you accordingly. For more info, check out their website here. If you want to sign up, the fee is INR 3000 per month.

Table tennis is an ideal indoor sport, that’s both fun and competitive. Sign up for coaching classes at MetroCity Sports and Health Club, and become a pro in no time! The club also offers a nice variety of other sporting options – as well as membership plans. We think it’s value-for-money {if you love sports}, and you can read our full recommendation here. Badminton

Another great under-rated sport is badminton – which you can learn and play indoors at Club 29. Usually played one-on-one, or in teams of doubles – this sport has re-gained popularity recently and can be a great work-out. Club 29 tout themselves as a “sportainment” venue and offer a plethora of sporting options, activities, entertainment, and even accommodation. Read our full feature on them, here. The charges are INR 2500 per month {plus taxes}.

#LBBTip: Other indoor sports they offer also include Squash {2 days a week coaching, for INR 3000+ per month, or 3 days a week coaching for INR 4000+ per month}, and indoor Rifle Shooting at their range in Wakad. For the latter, contact +91-7770012663 for more info.

Squash

Probably one of the most challenging indoor sports, squash too, is making a come-back in the popularity of competitive sports. Isquash Academy {since 2016} has coaching and playing facilities for squash, and is open to all. Squash is an intensive work-out, and great for toning and building stamina. Isquash has locations across Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, NIBM, Shivaji Nagar, and Wakad – and also offers other fitness options – including tennis. Their timings and fees vary at different outlets and prices start at INR 3,000 a month. There are trained professional coaches on-court at all times to do functional training with squash for adults.
