While summer turns the heat up, we’re winding down with some delicious drinks that are perfect to cool off with. Here are our picks for the best alcohol-based beverages to get you through this heat wave.

'This Summer' Saison by Great State Aleworks

One of our favourite homegrown breweries, Great State Aleworks is launching their special summer flagship beer – a saison called ‘This Summer’, which will be available at The Sassy Spoon {Koregaon Park}, and Mr. Rabbit’s Bar and Burrow {Baner}. Head brewer and founder Nakul Bhonsle, tells us that saisons – aka ‘Farmhouse Ales’ were brewed traditionally in farmhouses in the French-speaking part of Belgium, especially for summer months. Described as, ‘naturally fruity and spicy due to the nature of the yeast’; ‘This Summer’ is a light, easy-drinking beer that is brewed to combat that summer heat! Follow them on Instagram here for all the latest updates.

#LBBTip: They’re also launching a salted kokum beer, but have not announced a date for it yet.

Berry Honey Mead by Moonshine Meadery

Moonshine Meadery have come up with a delicious traditional mead, made with sidr honey, which will be available on-tap at Independence Brewing Co. shortly. Sidr honey or berry honey, is ‘honey made from the nectar of the sidr/jujube tree’, also known as ‘the berry tree’. This mildly carbonated mead is lightly floral on the nose, fruity on the mouth-feel, and slightly sweet to taste. All in all, it’s an enjoyable, summery alternative to your average wine or cocktail.

Bombay Nasty at The Daily - All Day

Bandra-born newcomer The Daily – All Day has continued to wow us with their consistently good food, drinks, and service. From their summer cocktails, we picked the ‘Bombay Nasty’ – a refreshing concoction of dark rum, cucumber, mint, watermelon, coriander, and pineapple juice. Another added bonus is their ‘Exotic Strawberry Red Wine Sangria’, served by the glass or pitcher, flavoured with red apple, mint leaves, strawberry and pomegranate.

Mango-ritas at Boteco

Our favourite Brazilian restaurant, Boteco, has introduced a chilled, tequila-based Mango-rita {mango margarita} onto their summer cocktail menu. If you want to try something more Brazilian, their ‘Summer King’ cocktail, made with mango, Cachaça {traditional Brazilian liquor} and Old Monk is a great choice, too. Pair it with their delicious meaty grills, and you’re good to go. Either way, you’ll have a delicious cocktail hour!

Summer Spritzers at Murphies

Pick from a range of sparkling summer spritzers – cucumber melon gin, blackcurrant lime vodka, caramel cinnamon apple juice rum, orange vanilla hazelnut mint vodka, or watermelon fresh strawberry rum – to cool down with. Priced at INR 149 each, these are part of the ‘Day Drinkers’ summer menu at Murphies bar in Koregaon Park.

#LBBTip: Murphies’ ‘Day Drinkers’ deal entitles you to enjoy your favourite alcohol {premium liquor and beer} priced at flat MRP on all weekdays. Enjoy this offer all-day long on Monday, and from 12.00PM – 7.00PM from Tuesday to Friday.

'Pop-tails' at Tales and Spirits

Tales and Spirits have added alcohol-infused popsicles, aka ‘Pop-tails’ {popsicle cocktails} to their drinks menu, for the summer. Indulge in lip-smacking good combinations like strawberry colada, Bailey’s and cookie, cream and sangria, kacchi kairi, and greek yogurt with dark chocolate fudge. Served as solo popsicles in a wine glass with a garnish, this is probably one of the most enjoyable ways to get a little tipsy!
