Take Long Walks, Admire Nature Or Enjoy The Skyline View From The Famous Taljai Tekdi

What Makes It Awesome?

On one of our recent weekend expeditions across Pune, we stumbled upon Taljai Tekdi, a lesser-known quiet hilltop near Sahakar Nagar, with a breathtaking view of the city's skyline.

Taljai Tekdi is for those who want to escape the city life for just a couple of hours, perhaps, to think peacefully in the quiet. Situated at a height of 2,000 feet, the road to this hill passes through Shivaji Maratha College campus. Perfect for bikers, the mountain path is quite smooth with sharp turns (so, be careful) and has the most stunning views ever.

There’s nothing much to do out here except taking long walks through the dense forest and watching the sunset with your partner. Taljai is full of greenery, relatively cooler than the main city and extremely peaceful. Some of the locals informed us that one may spot peacocks and other migratory birds out here, especially during monsoons. What’s more? There is a quaint temple at the entrance of the hills and a jogging track that’s open between 5.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m., and from 4.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.

What Could Be Better?

During summertime, it is very hot and most of the trees are leafless. To enjoy nature, the suitable seasons are winter and spring.

Pro-Tip

There are a few street-side food kiosks at the foothill that sell lip-smacking grub; from crispy onion fries to corn on the cob, healthy bitter gourd and fruit juices, coconut water and more.
