What's a better way to unwind with good food at a lovely place? Head to Wicked China in Yerawada for the wickedest Asian street food festival and gorge on the amazing delicacies from different parts of South Asia. Chef Gautam Samel of Wicked China has curated a delicious menu featuring some lip smacking Asian street food delicacies all month long! The menu includes soups, salads, hearty noodle soup bowls, delicious appetisers, mains and wok tossed noodles!
The menu has been designed based on the popular street food dishes that you would find in tropical places in South East Asia and to give Punekars the feeling that they are enjoying the flavours from street vendors in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
The Asian Street Food menu at Wicked China features an authentic Chinese style Hot n Sour soup inspired from the street vendors in Shanghai. This is not your regular Hot n Sour soup that you find in India. Chef Gautam learnt this recipe from his mentor (a master Chinese chef) while he was working at Yauatcha and Hakasan which is a clear soup (not thick and no egg drop like the Indian version) and includes delicious ingredients like black fungus mushroom, shiitake mushroom and fresh bamboo shoot.
They also have the popular Som Tam Thai salad on the menu although this version features both Raw papaya & Raw mango with fresh Asian herbs, crushed peanuts & sweet chilli dressing. Again, the popular South East Asian Noodle Soup – Laksa is on the menu as it’s perfect for the winter season and is almost a meal in itself.
The new menu also features a couple of appetizers, mains and fresh wok tossed noodles! In the appetizers we have pan seared cottage cheese with chef Gautam’s special coriander & garlic sauce, Pan fried Chicken Murtabak (which means folded), everyones favourite Chicken Satay served with in-house peanut sauce and fresh wok tossed rice noodles with chilli, oyster sauce, fresh exotic Chinese veggies and tofu.
