What Is It?

The Yellow Retreat is a homely getaway located on the hillside of Wai, outside Pune. The retreat features wide open spaces, no boundaries, open sky, and the basic creature comforts you’d expect. Run by a young couple, Mihir and Devayani – it’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

How Do I Get There?

A roughly 80km drive away from Pune, it’ll take you about 2 – 2.5hrs to get here by car. Wai is located close to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani, surrounded by the Sahyadris.

What Did I Like?

Named for its mustard-yellow colour, The Yellow Retreat was initially started to cater to corporates, but was opened to all in 2015. The sprawling 7-acre property features a swimming pool, indoor games {pool, table tennis, foosball}, a restaurant, modern amenities, and 360° views of the surrounding hillside. Their restaurant – Saki – ensures you’ll never go hungry. Breakfast is complimentary, and included in the room tariff {packages start at INR 3700}; the rest of your meals can be ordered a la carte. The cuisine served is mainly local Maharashtrian fare, with Chinese and Continental-style food available as well. The rooms are all double-occupancy, comfortably furnished with the basics – including a flat-screen TV, AC, and a balcony sit-out with stellar views. Towels and soap are provided, but we suggest you bring your own toiletries {as they are still developing their own range of toiletries}.

Anything Else?

The Yellow Retreat is popular among young couples, working professionals, and groups of friends. Ideally, it can accommodate around 60 people in the rooms and is a popular destination choice for festive events {Holi, Christmas, New Year’s Eve}, wedding parties, and corporates. Custom-menus can be arranged for on prior notice, and even a BBQ can be sorted out if you request the resort in advance. They don’t sell alcohol, but you can BYOB. An added bonus is that they’re pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your fur-baby along too!

#LBBTip

We hear the best time to visit is during the monsoons {when everything’s lush and green}, or at winter-time {when the climate is perfect for snuggling}.
