Jawai is a top destination for spotting leopards in the world. This activity has become a primary attraction, intriguing and inviting visitors from all across the world. The forest seems to house more than sixty leopards and their cubs, with at least two safari rides taking place each day—one early morning and one in the evening. Many years ago, lava formed the hills around Jawai, which also resulted in big caves that are now home to these leopards. The popularity among tourists grew all the more with the official declaration of Jawai Dam Crocodile Sanctuary in 2013, with more than 12 channel gates.
