Sarees are super personal to us, with specific memories attached to each one of them. The one we wore to a fresher's party, the one we wore to a best friend's wedding, our grandma's and mom's sarees that we love borrowing for special occasions—all precious memories attached to this one garment! They're not really seen as everyday, casual wear among Gen Z and Millennials today, but this saree store in Hyderabad aims to change just that.
Six Yards Plus, started by ISB graduate Mrinalini Shastry, has a wide range of comfy sarees in elegant Indian varieties that will tempt you into building a full-blown collection of your own. We found beautiful sarees in Mangalagiri, Gadwal, Andhra Cotton, Venkatagiri and Kalamkari, among many others in their collection.
They also have 'Signature Sarees' with different designs like Pop, Summer Breeze and Geometrics among others. If you're just getting started on your saree journey, we recommend perusing by design first. We found a beautiful collection in Cheriyal Paintings—a GI-tagged Telangana-based artform that depicts the lifestyle of rural Indians and scenes from mythological epics.
Another unique collection we found at Six Yards Plus is their 'Dobara' Collection. Like the name suggests, the thrifted collection gives a fresh lease of life to lightly worn sarees that people across India have sent in to be resold. All the sarees are thoroughly checked for quality, washed, ironed and then put up for sale in the thrift store. Since sarees have a huge shelf life but only get worn a few times, the thrift store acts as a wonderful space for discovery. There are a lot of hidden gems to be found, and we spotted some beautiful cotton, modal and Ajrakh silk sarees in this collection, starting at just INR 400!
They also have a pretty big collection of nine yard sarees. If you want to get something custom made, you can get in touch with the team and have a fresh design custom made.
