Alpha is a popular landmark near Secunderabad Railway Station and these folks are known for serving delicious biryani at pocket-friendly prices. You can score a plate of egg biryani at INR 70 and chicken (or mutton) biryani at INR 120 itself, and it can be eaten by one. We recommend pairing your biryani with Chicken Shahi Korma or Murgh Masallam. Alpha opens up for breakfast at 7 am and you can tuck into Chilli Kheema, Luqmi, and Bhaji Gurda.

Pakwaan
Tucked away in Bowenpally, Pakwaan is one of those places we frequent for biryani and haleem. This is a simple, no-frills restaurant that offers basic seating. Two things that you must absolutely try when you're here: Mutton Handi Biryani and Prawns Biryani. We love the meat to rice ratio in their biryanis and the restaurant is generous with its masala too. You can pair your biryani with Mutton Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka Masala.

Mehfill @ Ohri's
Located in Hotel Basera, Ohri's Mehfill has been attracting families for ages now. Lovely ambience is paired with great food festivals at Mehfill but if there's one thing that takes us back to this restaurant, it's the biryani. No, really! You've got to try their Chicken Tikka Biryani and Ohri's Mutton Biryani to know what we're saying. While you're at it, don't forget to tuck into their Peshawari Handi Murgh. Vegetarians, you can Paneer Tikka Biryani and Mutter Pulao.

Southern Spice is a meat lover's heaven! Located on Sardar Patel Main Road, this restaurant serves five types of biryani and over 10 types of pulaos. While obviously it's one of the best pulao places in Hyderabad, its biryani is no less. We recommend giving their Keema Biryani and Chicken Biryani a shot. If you're planning to visit on Sundays, you're in for a treat as they serve Dindigal Mutton Biryani — their specialty on that day. Plus, you can pair your biryani with Gongura Mamsam Koora.

Mayabazar in Karkhana is one of those restaurants that'll take you a nostalgic ride. Designed to look like a rural home, this restaurant has pictures from Mayabazar (the movie) on its walls. You'll not stop 'gramming it! Two things that you must absolutely eat here: Mutton Fry Biryani and Special Chicken Biryani. In all honesty, the chicken biryani will leave you licking your fingers. You can pair your biryani with Chicken Amritsari and Chicken Chettinad, if you're in the mood for extra spicy.

Kritunga Restaurant has several branches in Hyderabad, their branch in Malkajgiri is perhaps one of the best. Their biryani is not for the faint-hearted and if you relish Rayalaseema or Andhra-style biryani, loaded with masala and chunks of meat, Kritunga serves some and then more. Go for their Special Chicken Biryani, Pot Biryani (yup, it arrives in a pot), and Green Mirchi Chicken Biryani. Pair them with Chicken Shahi Kurma, Gongura Mutton.

Lucky's Biryani House is tucked away in Alwal and it's been around for years now. People keep going back to this restaurant to score biryani at pocket-friendly prices. They serve up around 12 types of biryani and as if that's not tempting enough, they've got a lot of awesome going on for them with dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala, Dum-Ka-Chicken, Achari Mutton, and Telangana Mutton. Their specialty biryanis include Mushroom Biryani, Chicken Moghlai Biryani, and Prawns Biryani. Get here with your group of friends so you can get a taste of everything. Plus, they've got mandi too.

Dawath in Sainikpuri does seven types of biryanis and all of them are worth visiting the restaurant for. They serve up lots of Indian dishes too. If you've got to eat their biryani, we recommend Chicken 65 Biryani and Mutton Biryani. Loaded with masala, these biryanis go really well with Egg Masala and Dawath Wala Lalmurgh. Do note that their food is slightly spicy — so, brace yourself for a delicious rush of spice.

Mujtaba Grills has become one of our favourites because of their shawarma. Soon we discovered their biryani and honestly, there's no going back. Located in Karkhana, this restaurant is known for Chicken Handi Biryani and Egg Biryani. Loaded with double masala, these biryanis will leave you licking your fingers. And for a good reason. If you prefer seafood biryani, we recommend trying their fish biryani or prawns biryani. Don't forget to end your meal with Kaddu Ki Kheer.
