What Makes It Awesome?

From smaller towns to big cities, the "round bread from Napoli" has become the most talked-about among fast-food eaters and Hyderabad is not new to this scene. From Broadway to Zozoz Pizzeria to Zabar, the pizza scene in Hyderabad has developed a lot thereby providing its patrons with the much-needed quality which is expected.

Brickwood is a pizzeria which has its roots from Kolkata, has opened up its franchise in Hyderabad in Madhapur area. As from its name, Brickwood which means one can find brick & wood logs lying around, we see a wood log at the entrance. It is a two-storeyed building with close proximity to Madhapur metro stop, with colourful posters, brick walls, thread art which is read as pizza, edgy lights and the cosy cartwheel seating that makes this place amazing to chill at. As you move onto the top floor, it has a cosy seating place with a decent capacity to accommodate approx 40 pax. We happened to visit this place one fine afternoon for lunch. We were greeted with some beverages, Lemon Grass & Mint mojito.

Starting off the fare, we got Classic pull cheese garlic bread, this had a criss-cross cut bun stuffed with parmesan and garlic butter, which is baked in the oven for a few minutes after which you can pull apart indulgent pieces with gooey cheese; this got over in minutes as it was really tasty; a must recommended dish from the menu.

Next up was Boat Cheese bread with paneer, which a structure similar to a boat with gooey cheese and paneer chunks in the middle with proper topping applied, overall a good taste and a great attempt in making this dish close to perfection. From the appetizers, we got garlic chicken & bruschetta, garlic chicken could have been done a bit better in terms of taste and seasoning done to to the chicken as it tasted a bit bland, bruschetta had loads of olive, tomato & sprinkled cheese on top, this tasted quite well however the amount of tomato applied could have been a bit lesser.

Next up, we got Penne paprika & Brickwood spaghetti pasta, pasta was nicely done with a good balance of taste and seasoning nicely done to it, even the spaghetti had a good balance of olive oil and fresh garlic thereby enhancing the overall taste of the dish.

From their pizza section, we got Peri-peri chicken pizza and Hawaiian pizza prepared from fresh mozzarella cheese, both of these pizzas had good texture and taste with right ingredients, however, the dusting done to the pizza base was a bit too much which needs to be controlled, also the woody/smoky flavour was somehow missing in the pizza.

Ending the fare with desserts, we had got Choco lava freakshake & some cakes like Blueberry cheesecake, Mango cheesecake & Dup choco fudge. Onto the freak shake, it looked really beautiful & humongous at the same time owing to the fact, it had cookies, brownie, Nutella, whipped cream & choco chips overloaded with a chocolate shake, making it a real chocolatey affair, a must recommended dish from the sweet section which can easily feed two persons. Among the cakes, I felt the blueberry cheesecake was decent among them, however, the others need improvement in terms of the cheese texture and freshness.

In a nutshell, Brickwood is a heaven for those who love authentic pizzas & a worth trying place with pocket-friendly offerings.
