Started with the aim to help out weavers and artisans in India, Shiloh by Sophie is a homegrown brand from Hyderabad that offers super comfy Indo-Western wear. We went through their catalogue and found some breezy A-line dresses, kaftans and sarees—all made with hand-block prints and hand weaves like Ikat.
All their designs aim to showcase the beauty of handmade fashion that's local to India, especially the artisans across states like Telangana, Rajasthan and Gujarat. So, synthetic fabrics and screen-printed designs are a strict no-no! We love that all their pieces are great for work and casual days out. The fabrics used are comfy, soft to the touch and Indian weather friendly like cottons, mul, linens, khadi and doria.
The designs are also a unique fusion of boho-chic meets Indian, so you can easily style the pieces with chunky oxidised jewellery, mascara and smoked eyeshadow to complete your Indian-Boho outfit. Except for a few Jaipuri Bagru hand-printed pieces that are embellished with Gota Patti work, all their pieces are understated. The colours are earthy and non-flashy, making them versatile for days out, work, and even casual dinner dates.
We also found beautiful Ajrakh, modal silk and Mashru silk sarees local to Gujarat on their catalogue. The brand makes jackets out of Mashru silk if you're looking for awesome Indo-Western work wear. We love the price point too—with all dresses under INR 3,000 while the silk sarees going up to INR 5,000.
If you're tired of fast fashion brands dishing out the same designs season after season, and would love to flaunt some Indian hand-made pieces on the daily, we're sure you'll like Shiloh by Sophie's collection. They're available on Instagram, and also showcase at several flea markets in Hyderabad regularly.
