Kuch khatta, kuch meetha, kuch namkeen — when chaat is the question, the answer is always a yes. To find the perfect plate of that 'yes', here are our favorite chaat places in the city.

Emerald Mithai Shop

It's not uncommon for sweet shops to serve chaat in Hyderabad, and one such shop in Banjara Hills is Emerald Mithai Shop. Pani puri, dahi puri, ragada, aloo tikki, bhel puri, vada pav, and pav bhaji — their chaat options will satisfy your tastebuds and your wallets because of most of the items are under INR 100. It's a small space outside the sweet section with minimum seating, so don't go there expecting hoity-toity service.

Gokul Chat

Gokul Chat is the most popular snack joint in the city, that has been winning hearts for 50 years. Boisterous, aromatic, frolicksome — this is how we’d describe our experience at Gokul. Forever bustling with foodies, it opens its shutters at 8.30 am and runs full-house till 11 pm. Their menu is a tangy mix of sweet and sour with dishes like Samosa Ragda, Dahi Puri, Bhel Puri, Cold Dahi Missal, and Cut Mirchi Ragda.

Gossips & Chaat

if you are travelling through the streets of West Marredpally, check out Gossips & Chaat with your pals for plates of chaat and never ending gossip. They serve 15 variations of Maggi (starting at INR 40) making it a favourite hangout joint of hungry college souls. They have chaats (INR 40), vada pav for INR 25, sandwiches for INR 30 to 70, among others. On the contrary to the name of the place, you'll also find momos, noodles, fried rice, parathas. The taste here is not top-notch but somehow makes you find the food really good at the given price and has the ability to make you their regular customer.

Maheshwari Chaat

This chaat joint has been around for 20 years and yet it's a hidden gem. Without comprising on hygiene, these folks use mineral water only and it's an FSSAI certified eatery. Maheshwari Chaat is a tiny stall with two outlets: one at Sanath Nagar and the other right outside Krishna Kanth Park. Two things that you have to try here - Dahi Puri and Pav Bhaji.

Ojha Sweets & Namkeen

A 132-year-old eatery — Ojha Sweets & Namkeen is worth driving down to Begum Bazaar. They offer dishes such as Aloo Bonda, Dahi Bhalla, Samosa Ragda, Pyaaz Kachori, and several Rajasthani dishes, which are apparently found only at Ojha in Hyderabad. The dishes can get spicy so let him know if you're looking for something that's not spicy.

Bombay Juice

This place is a perfect combination of sour and spicy. Think of a burst of flavours and textures coupled with some well-spiced chaat, and this place will not disappoint you. The Papdi and Cutlet Ragada are a must-try for everyone who visits here. It will cost you INR 45 each; regular sandwiches are for INR 35, the chocolate sandwich is for INR 40 and for others, it goes up to INR 65. Apart from these, you will get different types of milkshakes, Chinese food, pav-bhaji, etc. They've got plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors, so you can make it a party with your gang.
