When you decide to set up a party place on the road no.36 of Jubilee Hills, you better know the magnitude of expectations the party animals of Hyderabad have from you. A hall with a bar, dining tables, and loud music is just not what these arduous Bon viveurs are looking for. You have to be one creative menace to get your idea approved by this never forgiving audience!
Absorb, the new addition to the city's nightlife scenario has apparently done their homework right, before opening the flood gates! The moment you step into this open-air arena, you are compelled to utter a word of praise or two, by its gigantic magnitude and the sheer elegance achieved with the minimal decor! Its an open air place which means unwanted kisses from the sun during summer afternoons but then I'm sure they have a plan for it!
We were here on a Thursday evening but it felt like a weekend with the crowd pouring in as the evening progressed. The sound system is amazing as it has to be at a place that has no roof!.
Finally, we started with what we were there for; eating!
A couple of mocktails to start with, but they were just good. Nothing that stayed with me.
The Water Chestnut starter was a perfect start. It was was juicy, spicy and crunchy which is all you expect from a Water Chestnut dish!
The Tangy Prawns were like a sixer on the first ball. Big Meaty Prawns richly marinated and spiced and had the right crunch. They couldn't get better.
The Star Anise Chicken Tikka was another great starter which has the perfect Tikka flavor. I didn't get the reason behind the name though.
Not to forget the Mongolian Chicken which was nothing new but it was so perfectly cooked, i was just going on and on with it.
The main course was mostly vegetarian. The Veg Bubbles pulav is their creative version Biryani where the Akhni (Spice) was in the middle layer instead of being the bed! It was good in taste as well.
The Thai Green Curry and Rice were one of the best I've had in recent times. The super fresh flavor of coconut milk and the right thickness. I can go back to this place only for that.
Their Pizzas are amazing! The cheese was so fresh and melting, we had a hard time holding a slice together.
Finally the best part, the desserts. I only had Gulab Jamun which exceeded my expectations! First of all the bowl looked beautiful with three jamuns dipped in a brulee-like cream but it wasn't brulee it was rabdi. Both Jamun and Rabdi were complimenting each other with a balanced love! The Jamun were super soft and had the classic taste. The delicious rabdi took the dish's entirety to another level!
Overall it was an amazing evening spent at a place that's huge, beautiful and full of energy! Highly recommended!
