If you know us, you already know we love dashing through ghat roads and forests to explore Maredumilli. This sleepy hamlet in East Godavari village is where you can go hiking, discover hidden waterfalls, and picnic under the canopies...only if the monkeys don't trouble you much. Aranya Eco Resorts is where you must stay if you're planning to visit because this offers a wholesome experience — a rustic stay, great local cuisine, and a friendly doggo.
The best thing about this eco-resort is it's smacked right in the center of a forest with a river flowing through the resort. Yup, no kidding. While there's a wooden bridge for you to cross the river, it's also notorious for its river volleyball. Plus, the resort can also set-up camping tents for you by the river. Sounds like a great way to unwind, right? If there's one thing you shouldn't miss when you're in Maredumilli, it's the local cuisine. When we were around, we truly couldn't get enough of the bamboo biryani (also known as Bongu Lo Biryani), bamboo chicken, etc. The resort makes a fine spread of dishes that are not limited to these so we recommend you get a slice of local cuisine at Aranya. If you are a meat lover, you're in for a treat.
The rooms are quite basic but do note that you cannot expect luxury stays in Maredumilli as it's a remote village. Besides, you'll be in your rooms only when you have to hit the sack, so don't worry. Spend your mornings exploring Sokuleru View Point, Bhupathipalem Reservoir (endless blue water), Papikondalu National Park, etc. Other attractions include waterfalls like Jalatarangini, Amruthadhara, and Swarnandhra, which require hiking through jungles.
