What Makes it Awesome

Telangana's local cuisine, especially the dishes found in the rural parts of the state are hard to come by in Hyderabad. With lip-smacking spicy food you will remember for weeks, food from rural Telangana's Daawats and weddings is the stuff of legend, and something you must try atleast once in your life.

If you're in the city looking to explore the authentic cuisine of the state, you can now do that, thanks to Telangana Village Vindu popularly known as Telangana Vindu on Instagram. Vindu in Telugu translates to 'feast' and the offerings on their menu are no less than a hearty feast! They offer quintessentially meat-based Telangana dishes like Mutton and Keema curry, Gudla Pulusu (Gravy based Egg Curry), Chepala Pulusu (Gravy based Fish Curry) and a selection of starters like Chicken Kaju Fry, Prawns and Fish Fry among other delicacies. Devour it all with a generous serving of Bagara Rice. Telangana's Bagara Rice is a different preparation from what you'd find at commercial establishments in the city and is extremely flavourful on its own.

We love that the ingredients used in their dishes are mostly organic. All the dishes here are made using cold-pressed cooking oils and the spices are procured from co-operative societies run by rural women in India. The recipes are local to the Karimnagar district of Telangana.

Their packaging is fully eco-friendly, with dishes individually packed in baskets made of palm leaves. Gravy based curries like Gudla Pulusu and Chepala Pulusu are cooked in clay earthenware, in line with the traditional cooking methods used in Telangana since centuries. What's cool is that the dishes are also delivered to you in the same earthenware!

Multiple South Indian spots in Hyderabad serve food on banana leaves. In Telangana, food is served in a 'Vistaraku' - leaf plates handwoven with large Bauhinia leaves, since the trees are local to the region. All your orders from Telangana Village Vindu are delivered with these leaf plates so you get the authentic dining experience right at home.

Do try their Fish and Prawn fry to go with your Bagara Rice and Mutton. The portion sizes are generous, and you can order food by kilo, here. Even their half-kilo packs are sufficient for up to three people.

A famous colloquial saying in Telangana goes 'Mukka Lenidi Mudda Digadu' loosely translating to 'We won't eat a single morsel of food without meat' which speaks volumes about the state's local cuisine. So if you love your meat, then order in from Telangana Village Vindu and dig into the feast!

Pro-Tip

Telangana Village Vindu's dishes are mildly spiced to cater to a wider palate. If you'd like the fully authentic village food experience, request them to bump up the spice on your orders.
