With its incredibly fast growth-time and surprising strength, could bamboo be the stunning future of sustainable architecture? Yes. Proves the Hyderabad-based couple, Prashant Lingam and Aruna Kappagantula, through Bamboo House India. Located in Uppal, the service started in 2006. From building eco-friendly homes of bamboo to making footpaths out of recycled plastic waste, they are promoting sustainable living and at the same time, providing employment to several farmers and artisans involved in the process.

One example of their works is an office made of bamboo fixtures and recycled plastic near KPHB Colony in Kukatpally. It was inaugurated on World Environment Day and the project was supported by GHMC West Zone Zonal Commissioner Hari Chandana Dasari. They engineer beautiful modern-day bamboo houses equipped with electricity, internet and all other amenities for a comfortable living.

Now, let’s give you an insight on how does it benefit you? Bamboo houses are cheaper than concrete houses. It costs you around INR 700 per sq ft. Apart from that, they eliminate the need for air conditioning as the temperature goes down by three to four degrees. Isn’t it awesome?
