Studio Ghibli or all the reels about Japan making you crave some kickass ramen? Well, you don't have to depend on your travel plans to enjoy some. We've compiled a list of the best restaurants in Hyderabad that serve delicious, close-to-authentic and even authentic ramen with the meats and greens of your choice. Chopsticks or not, there's practically nothing stopping you from a hearty ramen meal.

Chubby Cho

Chubby Cho is our personal favourite for a hot and hearty bowl of ramen. Right from the vibe and the Asian decor, there's an instant connection. If your sole purpose is to have ramen, we suggest not hogging up on too many starters because the portion is huge, be it Vietnamese Pho, Spicy Korean Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, Shaanxi Ramen or Cambodian Home Style Ramen. They have vegetarian and non-vegetarian varieties that don't compromise on flavour. But yes, the spicy ones are properly spicy, so keep lots of drinks around you.

Our Picks: Shoyu Ramen and Spicy Korean Ramen Bowl

Price: INR 750 onwards

Makau

Feeling like going to a fancy restaurant with bold, boho and vibrant decor with your partner or your pals? Check out Macau and their ramen selections. It's a bummer that they have 2 vegetarian varieties only: Exotic Mushroom and Via Malaysia. For non-vegetarians, you've got options with chicken, beef and pork like Smoked Chicken Ramen, Spicy Red Ramen, Fatty Pho and traditional Japanese Chashu. The portion size is good, and the spice levels are also on the lower side, so you don't have to go back with a red face.

Our Picks: Smoked Chicken Ramen and Spicy Red Ramen

Price: INR 550 onwards

Haiku

If you're craving Asian cuisine with authentic flavours, Haiku gets it pretty close. They have an extensive menu covering Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Malaysian and continental dishes that hit all the right spots. Skim through the menu after ordering the appetizers and jump to their soups section for ramen. Albeit 2 options, we assure you they are delicious! You have a soy version with bamboo shoot, tofu and mushroom, and a chicken one with leek and nori. They're not blazingly spicy, but if you want the heat, you can request.

Our Picks: Yasai Ramen and Spicy Korean Chicken Ramen

Price: INR 700 onwards

Burma Burma

We were thrilled when Burma Burma finally opened in Hyderabad! It's an all-vegetarian restaurant with flavours that can compete with any top-star restaurant. And speaking of that, one of the dishes that we always recommend is Kaya Oh. It's a Burmese Ramen with shiitake mushroom, tofu, roasted chilli and Pok Choy with rice noodles. The flavour is umami, which is native to the Japanese palate and might strike surprisingly differently to our Indian, masala-loving palate. We enjoy the subtle notes of the warm broth and it pairs well with a plate of dim sums.

Our Pick: Kaya Oh

Price: INR 580 onwards

Ha-Luo Oriental Cafe & Kitchen

Thinking of Ramen for lunch? Ha-Luo is a metro ride away. Get down at Hitech City station and head to this restaurant in the Galleria Mall. The ambience is lively, with Asian-themed walls and elegant wooden seating. They have a dedicated Ramen section with four can't-go-wrong options: Korean, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese. You can opt for veg, chicken, prawn and tofu options. The portion size is big and the price is quite affordable compared to others.

Our Picks: Thai Peanut Ramen Bowl and Korean Ramen Bowl (it's the spiciest of all).

Price: INR 435 onwards

Mamagoto

Mamagoto makes it to our list for its Miso Broth Ramen Bowl. It's a traditional Japanese ramen with fermented soybeans (which is miso), rice broth, minced veggies or Chicken, silken tofu, nori and greens. Every sip reminds us of the book Chicken Soup For The Soul because it feels like a warm hug, truly! It's a perfect palate cleanser after a spicy meal, and definitely worth a try.

Our Pick: Miso Broth Ramen Bowl

Price: INR 700 onwards

The Bougainvillea & Zuci

Nothing better than The Bougainvillea & Zuci for romantic vibes and one of the best ramen in the city. Skip through the grills and burgers for once and order a bowl or two for the main course with unique flavours for a gastronomical adventure. They have four flavourful ramen options, each with different spice levels: Tofu Miso, Prawns Kinogi, Sio Dare Chicken and Wasagi Haki Beef. If you enjoy spice, we suggest going for the Chinese-style Prawns Kinogi ramen, the spiciest of them all, which will make you look like a dragon huffing smoke by the end of it. The portion sizes are considerable so order with caution.

Our Picks: Tofu Miso Ramen and Sio Dare Chicken Ramen

Price: INR 525 onwards
