Y'all know how biryani is an essential service in Hyderabad. We don't have to say it out loud for you. For those of you living in Kondapur, we know going out on Fridays for team lunches was customary. Biryani was naturally involved. And if you've been craving some but cannot go out — here's our pick of five biryani places that are delivering to Kondapur. May the force of double masala be with you!

Mehfil

Mehfil invokes nostalgia. During the pre-COVID times, we'd hit up this biryani joint, no matter what occasion, for its mutton biryani and butter chicken. Known for its right meat to rice ratio, the biryani here is rich — in fact, the aroma of ghee-ladened biryani wafts through the entire room. Great news — they're delivering. The food arrives, well-packed and the restaurant is maintaining hygiene too. Apart from biryani, Mehfil's Garlic Prawns, Chicken Hyderabadi (slow-cooked in spices), and Rara Murgh are worth ordering in.

Sarvi

Touted as one of the best biryani joints in Hyderabad, Sarvi has a take-and-go service in Kondapur. Which means, it also delivers in and around this area. As Sarvi uses Iranian spices, their biryani is like no other. Their special biryani comes with double masala and we recommend pairing their biryani with Galouti Kebab, Awadhi Seekh Kebab (this melts in your mouth — you've been warned), and Dum Ka Murgh Curry. While you're at it, don't forget to order their Double-Ka-Meetha or phirni (if it doesn't get sold out in a jiffy).

Chickpet Donne Biryani

Now that Chickpet Donne Biryani has opened several outlets across Hyderabad, you can get your slice of donne biryani in Kondapur. Although this isn't Hyderabadi biryani, what makes this experience wholesome is the fact that biryani is served in donne (dried palm leaves). The rice is slow-cooked, separately, and tossed with your choice of meat, later. As a result, it's a melting pot of flavours; it's served with curd (water-like consistency) and spicy chutney. Allow us to say you're in for a treat.

Srikanya

Srikanya was (and still is) probably the only restaurant we'd queue up for. Two words: Mixed Biryani. Tossed with chicken, prawns, mutton, and fish — this biryani is a meat lover's paradise. With many other variants like Ulavacharu Biryani, Gongura Chicken Biryani, Chicken Mughlai Biryani, Mushroom Biryani, Srikanya keeps its biryani spicy. If you prefer Andhra style biryani, surely you'll find plenty to dig into. Plus, each of their biryanis can be shared between two to three individuals.

Kritunga Restaurant

Known for its extremely tangy biryani, Kritunga is delivering and it's just what the season demands. Their biryani is not for the faint-hearted and if you relish Rayalaseema or Andhra-style biryani, loaded with masala and chunks of meat, Kritunga serves some and then more. Go for their Special Chicken Biryani, Pot Biryani (yup, it arrives in a pot), and Green Mirchi Chicken Biryani. Pair these beauties with Chicken Shahi Kurma, Gongura Mutton. It's a meal fit for Sunday afternoons with some rum.
