Shortcut

The iconic Buddha statue is a beautiful sight to look at every time we pass by Tank Bund, but getting there via a boat and watching it up close is simply mesmerising.

What Makes It Awesome

Inspired by the efforts to restore Statue Of Liberty, N.T. Rama Rao decided to construct a monolith statue of Gautama Buddha in Hyderabad. Until today, it continues to marvel visitors and locals alike and a boat ride to the statue only adds to the fancy. Although the water in Hussain Sagar stinks and is barely clean — hundreds of people go on a boat ride in it, on a daily basis. Multiple boats from Lumbini Park take you to an island of sorts, right in the middle of the lake and entertain you along the way too. You can take a mechanised boat ride of just 15 minutes to get to the statue or opt for the ferry where you can sit back on a good evening and a group of dancers will put up performances on popular numbers.

However, the ferry doesn't let you explore the area around the statue, but simply takes you around it. Don't worry about your safety for they provide life jackets too. So, grab your tickets starting at only INR 40 per person and go for a ride.

What Could Be Better

The boats are less in number, so often people have to wait their turn.

Pro-Tip

The best time to visit the Buddha statue is in the evening, but make it early as it gets really crowded after 6pm.
