Surely you've heard of double-decker buses, but have you heard of a double-decker train? Resembling a toy train, Double Decker Express will give you a taste of it. Operated by the South Coast Railways, this service was launched in 2016, and this train runs between Visakhapatnam and Tirupathi.
Back to where we were — the route between Visakhapatnam and Tirupati is a treat for sore eyes. It only gets better when you travel by this superfast express train. Done up in bright yellow and red, it is operated tri-weekly (Monday, Thursday, and Saturday). It has 16 stops between Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and it consumes a little over 13 hours of your time. The only downside might be that the coaches have chairs only, so you have to sit up straight for 13 hours. That said, we recommend you try it out for a different experience as the concept is new.
It halts at major stations such as Kalahasti, Ongole, Chirala, Tenali, Rajahmundry, Tuni and everything and we needn’t remind you how green these areas are. Make sure to keep your cameras ready for aesthetic Insta-worthy pictures during the journey. Fun fact: There was a double-decker express that ran between Kacheguda and Guntur, and both these trains were the first double-deckers to be introduced by Indian Railways.
