Since 2009, talks of shifting the Kothapet market were in progress but at a slower pace. But finally, the Marketing and Agricultural departments are planning to establish a fruit market at Koheda that would be the Asia’s biggest agricultural market, as the existing one is causing traffic problems and inconvenience both to farmers and traders. Moreover, the State government is making an action plan to advance the local consumption of sweet lime to help the farmers. The decision was taken following the lack of demand for the fruit due to lockdown.
