Ten-Second Takeaway

Dine in an old world gorgeous bungalow or under the tress in a traditional courtyard at Kuteeram, a newish thali restaurant in Jubilee Hills. Boundless greenery, old world spirit, and food that reminds you of home — here’s a restaurant thali lovers can revel in.

Gorge On Morsels Of Delicacies In a Vintage Courtyard

Kuteeram {meaning a hut or a cottage in Telugu} is quietly nestled in an eventful by lane of Jubilee Hills, but it is as far away from the outside hustle and bustle as it can be. Step into this green space for an extra bit of everything — food, leisure, and nostalgia. Make sure you grab a seat under the trees in the restaurant’s traditional courtyard. Don’t waste time, get yourself a recommendation from the staff on what’s the best thali for the day and get started. The service is a little laid back but we’ve got no complaints because this is the kind of place where you need to slow down and actually enjoy the food and atmosphere.

An ensemble of interesting starters with freshly ground chutney will be served and soon a thali of local delicacies follows. Take your pick between the Andhra thali or the Telangana one if you’re interested in a true Telugu extravagance, but for the ones exploring other regional cuisines, there are thalis from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In our Telangana thali, there was pappu, bhindi and peanuts stir fried, Bagara Baingan, rasam and Boori, a traditional Andhra sweet. We also tried the Karnataka thali with flavoured rice, dal, Bisibelli Baath and it got a thumbs up from us. In the Maharashtra thali, there’s the vada pav that you cannot miss on. All thalis are served with tomato chutney {or the chutney of the day} and soothing welcome drinks.

Make it more fitting by ordering a side of fish fry or prawns. We must warn you, though — their seafood dishes are super popular and tend to get over within minutes of the space being open for lunch.

Chutneys To Take Away

Want more of the Kuteeram experience? Then don’t forget to pack their pandu mirchi pachadi {red mirchi pickle}, podis {chutneys powder} like kakarkaya {bitter gourd}, palli {groundnuts}, and karvepaku {curry leaves}. These are condiments you cannot miss out on. You can buy these at their in-house store after you sample them in your thali. These accompaniments also work wonders when you’re eating meals at home.

So, We’re Thinking...

If sedate lunches are your bent, we bet you’d love Kuteeram. Grab your homies and bring in those thalis and wash them down with tumblers of Buttermilk. You’ll be in for a food coma for the rest of the day.
