One of the biggest perks of living in a city like Hyderabad is that we have access to some of the best South Indian food, especially breakfast! If you're ever around Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills looking for a solid place to have authentic, piping hot South Indian breakfast, we recommend you head to Simply South by Chef Chalapathi Rao.
The celebrated restaurant known for their dishes from all the South Indian states also serves excellent breakfast with options like Utappam, freshly steamed Idlis, Pesarattu, a variety of Dosas, Pongal, Upma and even filter coffee. All their chutneys and podis are made fresh, in time for breakfast service that surprisingly starts at 6 AM! The variety is excellent, and could give some of the most popular breakfast chains in Hyderabad a run for their money.
We love that breakfast at Simply South is a fuss-free authentic fare. With weird food combinations making the rounds in the name of fusion today, Simply South sticks to the basics and gets them right, even with seemingly boring options like Upma. All the batters for their dishes are made in-house everyday.
Like the food, the ambience of the restaurant is similar to a traditional South Indian home, complete with muggu (rangoli) decorating the entrance, fresh marigold flowers, Carnatic music and elegant dark wood furniture. The experience at Simply South comes closest to what you'd experience in a South Indian home, so we totally recommend this place if you're ever hosting friends and family from out of town.
Their thalis are a crowd favourite and the restaurant is often packed, so make sure you reserve a table before you visit. They offer some rare local delicacies like Natu Kodi Pulusu (country chicken cooked with traditional spices in spicy gravy), Uragai Mamsam (pickled mutton) and Hyderabadi dishes like Bagara Baingan and Ambade ki Keema during their lunch and dinner service.
