What Makes It Awesome

Is sport your thing? Then head to Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF) in Masab Tank. Started in the year 1991 by K Sai Baba (former Ranji trophy cricketer), the academy provides coaching facilities for cricket, tennis, football, basketball, boxing, among others.

Wanting to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports, Saibaba left his job as a banker to pursue his passion to start the academy (which is the first of its kind in the city that gives free training to anyone with a zest to learn). He provides training to under-privileged children and also helps schools in creating the infrastructure for sports.

The funding comes from private donations, where 15 per cent of funds are collected as fees from the affluent students and the rest comes from the central government and private organisations. SCF provides training to children aged between six and 16 years. This includes theory and practical sessions. Trainees are formed into three groups based on age and experience and there are qualified professional coaches who train the students.
