Feeling beachy? Suryalanka Beach is one of the most popular beaches in our Telugu states for all the right reasons. It's a vast coastline with crystal blue waters of the Bay Of Bengal and the tides are quite safe of swimming and sunbathing. It's seven hours away from Hyderabad and two hours away from Vijayawada by car which makes this a great road trip destination. FYI, this is the closest beach to Hyderabad, so if you can't drive down to Goa, you have your own local, Dil Chahta Hai here. But people don't flock here just for the beach.
Caves, forts, and wildlife — there are multiple stops you can make while you're here. If history excites you, you can check out Undavalli caves and Kondaveedu Fort for trekking and sightseeing. If you want to explore more of nature along with the beach, there's Uppalapadu Bird Sanctuary for that. here are over 7,000 birds including Painted Storks, Spot-billed Pelicans. Several species of birds migrate from Siberia or Australia. If beach hopping is the last thing you expect here, Ramapuram Beach in Chirala is a 50-minute drive away. It's equally pretty, clean, and calm. Would you believe if we said you could spot dolphins here? Well, if it's your good day, you can spot dolphins swimming around during November.
If you're sold on this road trip idea, you can also plan your stay on the beach. Haritha Beach Resort by AP Tourism has rooms and cottages on the shore which means you can sleep and wake up the soothing sound of the waves. Long weekend sorted? We'd like to think so.
