We cannot tell you how excited we are! Bombay-based Theobroma Patisserie has opened its first outlet in Hyderabad and sugar rush gets cracking us on. Replacing London Bubble & Co. on Road No. 10, Jubilee Hills, this patisserie has brought all its legendary baked goods. We obviously paid our visit on the first day to get a slice of food of the gods, which is the brand's tagline too. Decked up in its signature colours — blues and pinks — Theobroma has already attracted food lovers to its yard. There's a queue, well-maintained and socially distanced, the patisserie notes down your names and calls you in, one by one, to avoid any crowd inside. It's worth the wait, so hang on!
Once you step in, you're surrounded by bright-painted walls with chandeliers, pastries, gramophones, etc. At the dessert counter, spot all things gooey and sweet like cookies, cupcakes, croissants, tarts, buns, breads, and of course its legendary brownies. Here's what we tried — we started on a savoury note with Spinach & Corn Sandwich, Theobroma Quiche, and Junglee Paneer Roll. Loaded with cheese, olives, and vegetables — the quiche is slightly sour but a blast of flavours. Both the sandwich and roll were quite filling and we'll surely go back for the sandwich.
Let's get to the leading characters now — the desserts. We dug into Pain Au Chocolate, Chocolate Cupcake, Opium Pastry, Red Velvet Pastry, Peanut Butter Brownie. Buttery, flaky, and chocolatey — Pain Au Chocolate is just the way it's supposed to be — heavenly. Perfect to go with a cup of coffee. With Chocolate Cupcake and Opium Pastry, you'll walk straight into food coma. Sugar rush guaranteed! While Theobroma has more brownies to offer, they were sold out. In fact, we couldn't try quite a few pastries and croissants because they were sold out. So, we do recommend hitting up the patisserie early in the day for some baked goods. Apart from these, there are cakes, crackers, tea cakes, and puffs that you can nibble on.
Oh, and lest we forget, Theobroma will also be opening three other outlets in the city this month.
