Known for its rich cultural heritage and located right along the Godavari River, Rajahmundry offers a unique blend of history and tradition. During Ramadan, the city’s biryani culture takes center stage, with special variations of this crowd-favourite dish that attracts food lovers from around the city.
Rajahmundry’s biryani scene has deep roots, influenced by Mughlai and Nizami culinary traditions. This year, Thums Up, is inviting you to experience Rajahmundry’s finest biryani spots on a special “Toofani Biryani Gully” food walk. Happening on 26th March, this food walk will take you to some of the city’s most iconic biryani joints around Tilak Road (near RTC Complex) and J.N Road - an area that has become synonymous with delicious biryani that pulls in locals and visitors alike all year long.
We start from Hotel Star Darbar Grand at Tilak Road, known for its rich, aromatic biryanis that have been a local favourite for years. Then, we head to SriKanya Inn near RTC Complex, where you'll find a delightful take on traditional biryani with a touch of local spices. Next, we’ll visit Sitara Multicuisine, famous for its exquisite Hyderabadi-style biryani, packed with bold flavours and perfectly cooked rice. Finally, we wrap up at Salt Progressive Kitchen on J.N Road, where they add a modern twist to the classic biryani, blending innovation with rich, smoky flavours.
To make this experience even more special, popular actor Mehaboob, who is known for his hit music videos like Kaadhal Kurise and Nuvve Kavali, will be joining us, along with heritage experts who’ll share the rich history of the area and the food. And of course, Thums Up will be there to make every bite of biryani even more toofani and refreshing!
