14 Telugu Bands In Hyderabad You Must Catch Live

Starting off the guide with a band that started it all - Capricio got the ball rolling for the Telugu live music scene in Hyderabad. With mashups of iconic tracks from our childhood, they soon won over our little Telugu hearts and continue to rule the live music scene today. When the band isn't performing live at their regular haunts in town, they're seen at private gigs for some of the most legendary actors in Telugu cinema. 

Nine-piece band Threeory got supremely famous for adding unique Indian touches to Progressive Rock music with additions like Sitar, Tabla and Violin doling out some of the most soulful tracks Indian cinema has to offer. Think tracks like Roja and Bombay that the violinist Parsa Dattasai effortlessly performs during their sets. The band currently incorporates a lot of Telugu and Tamil music into their sets aside from Hindi and English numbers. Attending Threeory's live performance is a must-do in Hyderabad, especially if you love fusion music. You'll be blown away, we promise. 

You may recognise Band Elyzium's lead singer Dinker Kalvala from TV shows and several hit playback numbers in Tollywood. Aside from their electrifying sets featuring songs in Telugu and Hindi, their original compositions, 'Pretty Ponne' and 'Prema' are also two of the most loved tracks by audiences. Combining influences of the Rastafarian movement with rustic Telugu folk, Chowraasta's sound is super unique and is sure to tug at your heart with their no-frills style of music. You will see influences of reggae, folk, retro and blues thrown in their covers and original numbers. Known as 'Hyderabad's Party Band,' The Deccan Project combines influences of funk, blues, rock, swing, and infuses them with regional influences in their performances. The band members are a bunch of friends from college, living out their musical dreams. Catch them play their crowd favourites Pettarap, Kurralu, Humma Humma and dance the night away. 

If you follow Telugu singing reality TV shows, you will instantly recognise Infusion's lead singers Krishna Chaitanya and Valli Gayatri. The band performs fusion music featuring Telugu and Hindi film music, experimenting with different genres, languages and styles. Narasimha/Padayappa fan? You've got to listen to the Infusion's rendition of Meriseti Puvva. They also perform some legendary tracks like Takita Tadhimi from Sagarasangamam, Sarigame from Boys and Mayya Mayya from Guru. Need we say more? 

Band Raag loves fusion and we can totally see why. They mix popular Telugu chartbusters with diverse music styles. Think Vayyari Bhama from Thammudu reimagined in Reggae. Don't miss their unique interludes and additions to famous tracks. Their tracks from Sakhi and Guna are a must-listen when you watch them live. Love crooning? Band Raag is big on having audiences sing along, so get your vocal chords ready for a night out of singing. 

Band Aarohi is a Contemporary Fusion Band that blends classical and western music in their performances. Popular for their melodious performances and Instrumental setlists, they are best known for their renditions of songs composed by AR Rahman and Ilayaraja. With over 300 gigs and counting, the band has performed at several house parties and weddings organised by Tollywood's favourite celebs. You may have also watched them play at RRR's success party and Pushpa's audio launch party. Do not miss their unique renditions of the Bahubali theme and Game of Thrones X Pirates theme, both played on the violin. 

Niraval performs Telugu and other film songs with a twist of progressive music. Catch them live and make sure to request Aasha Pasam, Hello Guru and Niraval Express which the band is known for. The band consistently aims to better the original versions of the songs they play with unique additions of their own. The unique song selections in their sets are sure to surprise you!

Ram Miriyala rose to fame as Band Chowraasta's lead singer and has now gone on to form an independent band of his own. His voice is representative of everything we love about Telugu music. Aside from the popular tracks he's sung before, the singer is known for his tracks in DJ Tillu and Bheemla Nayak. Do not miss his rustic live performances. They're sure to stay with you.

Kalakaari is a Pop/Rock band that regularly performs Telugu and Hindi hits. The band's showmanship, costumes, and the energy on stage is something you should absolutely watch out for. We love that they don't forget yesteryear hits like Niluvavey Vaalukanula Dana and Chettulekka Galava during their performances. Totally appeals to the old soul in us! 

Varnam majorly plays Telugu music, rendered in the band's unique style infusing elements of jazz, funk and disco music. You can find them playing at Hyderabad's favourite hangouts for live music like Tabula Rasa, Heart Cup Coffee and Moonshine Project. If you're big on specific song requests, you'll absolutely love Varnam, as they never say no to song requests from the audience. The band also regularly plays for Tollywood celebrities at their residences. 

Jammers is known for their Telugu song covers and original music in various genres for the last 5 five years. Catch them singing some of the legendary hits of Tollywood from the 80's and 90's composed by A R Rahman and Ilayaraja. Their rendition of Kammani Ee Prema Lekhane is the most requested track during their live performances. The band is keen on producing more music of their own, so make sure to follow them on their socials too! 

Rock band El Taxidi performs Tollywood, instrumental and Mollywood tracks regularly at their live performances. They've done several private parties for Tollywood's biggies like Megastar Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, Nani, Jr.NTR and many more. Tracks like Life of Ram, and their unique instrumental rendition of Kannulada (from Dhanush's 3) placed them on the map, so make sure you request them when you catch the band live at their next gig!
