From beautiful designs to aesthetic campaigns, Abhinav Mishra has been making waves in couture fashion, and for good reason. His work flirts with colours and embodies playfulness, and is inspired deeply by the heritage of India's iconic cities such as Lucknow and Delhi. We picked the designer's brain on what he expects the wedding season to lean towards in 2022, the year of low-key post-covid weddings, and chiller brides and bridal parties. Here's everything he shared with us.

The Colours Brides Are Picking In 2022

In a post-Alia's-balcony-wedding world, everyone is expecting brides to keep it casual, and au naturel. How long will that last, we ask him. "Each bride sets out to find her own unique outfit for her wedding. While Bollywood always inspires and sets the goals for a few of them; wedding is something that most women have their own vision for. Shades of the family of red and pink will always be prevalent. Ivory and off-whites will definitely come into play as well at different levels. Fusion is what’s going to change the game. While some might want a completely red or ivory outfit; there are going to be brides who would want to maintain the traditionality of red lehengas mixed with ivory of the modern new age women."

LBB's Picks: For Brides who love whites, this influencer-approved off-white set from Odette. For those willing to shell out a bit more, this silk-chanderi set from Abhinav Mishra is gorgeous!

Season's Colours For Wedding Attendees

"We’ve moved away from the era of playing safe to one of experimenting. This is the season of bright and popping colours; essentially shades of the rainbow. Hues of pink, blues, yellow, and orange would be the colours to look out for this season. Purple will also be a trending colour and could be seen possibly donned by both men and women."

LBB's Picks: This purple kurta from Aza Fashions for men, and this georgette suit set for women.

Keep It Comfortable Yet Unique

We're gonna say it, some of us like to be comfortable a little too much. Here are the expert's tips on staying lazy while also looking chic. "Minimal is classy. Accessorising is the key to making any outfit look stylish and a class apart. Belts are a huge fashion statement these days. Belting up a saree or a lehenga can easily take your outfits up a few notches. Dual dupattas for women and dual safas for men is the easiest way to amp up any attire."

LBB's Picks: Here's a great, affordable option from Geroo Jaipur.

It's All In The Fabric

A lot of wedding-wear trends are ruled by whatever is the hottest fabric of the season, and here's what's expected to fill up the racks this season. "Sensual yet fluid is the trend of fashion we’ve been seeing this year. Fabrics with sheen like tissue and organza are going to be hot selling this season. Prints, Florals and silk are also going to be trendsetters, adding a style quotient in every outfit."

LBB's Picks: Organza sarees from Kalki Fashions

The Silhouettes We'll All Be Obsessed With...

"The post pandemic era has seen a shift from people following trends to doing what they feel like. The sheep herd is gone. Mood fashion has taken its space instead. Traditional and contemporary silhouettes both will have a balance this season. Trends are ever evolving; shararas and ghararas might move slightly away from mainstream couture but could be a big trend for the attendees."

LBB's Picks: We're obsessed with this minimal drape saree by The Right Cut.

Sarees Stay Winning

If you're a saree-over-anything-else kind of person, here's what you can do to wear sarees to your heart's fill and still stay on top of trends this season. "Sarees are one of the best outfits to play around with. They are evergreen and never go out of trend, and at the same time a big fashion statement always. They are the most versatile pieces in Indian Couture. With the wave of experimental fashion that’s going on, new ways of draping, stylish blouses and cuts are going to be the glam factors for any saree. Tissue and organza sarees are going to steal the show in summers and we might see an output of velvet and brocade sarees in winters."

If you're planning on finally taking the plunge and buying a beautiful silk, Karagiri has stunning options.

Get Your Monies' Worth

Here's how you know what you're buying will last you years and years. "Always invest in traditional silhouettes, motifs, gota and zari work, all of these are Indian traditional statement pieces that will never go out of style. These are the pieces that end up becoming vintage pieces and legacies for generations to come."

LBB's Picks: This raw silk lehenga from Abhinav Mishra as seen on Sanjana Sanghi, that will never not fulfil your bridesmaid dreams.
