Vogue went on an eating spree in Amritsar and we can only look on with lust. Here are the three places on our To Eat lists. BRB, booking tickets for a weekend getaway.

Langar at Golden Temple

Eating the evening langar at the Golden Temple is an experience that must not be missed. Even if you’re not staying for the langar, which will have two vegetable dishes and rotis, we hope you just get some of their prasad. Usually they have sooji halwa that is dripping with ghee and full of dry fruits, and love.

If this tourist spot is just a touch and go, then we {and Vogue} can recommend the tea and malai toast at the gates of the gurudwara.

Kanha’s Sweets

Lawrence Road houses this food stop, where you can get steaming hot pooris and chana for your breakfast. This budget option is perfect if you need to catch a quick meal and get on with your day. We also hear good things about their Alu Kilaunji and Gurh ka Kadha {halwa made of jaggery}.

Surjit Food Plaza

Lonely Planet recommends this, Vogue recommends this and now, so do we. And if those three reasons aren’t enough, we’ll give you more. The Tandoori Chicken, Mutton Kebab and Paneer Tikkas are perfectly done. Another Lawrence Road habitant, we are big fans of their soft and tender fish dishes.
