In a bid to protest the sealing drive in Delhi, over 7 lakh stores, shops restaurants and the like across 3,000 markets city-wide are to remain closed tomorrow, March 28th, 2018. A rally is also being planned at Ramlila Maidan, asking the government to intervene and curtail the sealing.
In an interview with The Times Of India, Praveen Khandelwal, secretary of the Confedaration Of All India Traders (CAIT) said, “More than 3,000 commercial markets, including Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazar, South Extension, Rajouri Garden, Vikas Marg, Greater Kailash, Chawri Bazar, Ashok Vihar, Rohini, Kirti Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony, Kalkaji, Janakpuri, Laxmi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Mandoli, Paharganj, Loni Road, Green Park, Kashmere Gate, etc, will remain closed. The logistics sector has also extended its support and all transport companies will remain closed.”
The traders of the city plan to add to their protest by not letting their children go to school as well. The rally is already actively in play, to protest traders being denied basic fundamental benefits and having their profits dip monumentally in the last three months.
