6 Winter Wardrobe Essentials | The Gentleman's Edition

The information in this post might be outdated

Gone are the days of 'throw on a pair of jeans and a sweater, or a suit and a shirt.' Gentlemen, you're as spoilt for choice {well, close enough anyway} as the ladies, and we've got the uber talented Dhruv Kapoor to ensure you have plenty swagger this winter. Having started his career in fashion in 2006 at NIFT, New Delhi, Dhruv went on to Istituto Marangoni, Milan. Two years in Milan helped establish his sensibility about fashion, trends, business and how it all works, and after meeting and interning with some rather influential people in the industry, he moved back to  kick-start his own label that plays with contrasts of opinion, irony and eccentricity. A gentleman who knows his stuff, you want to be listening to him!

The dull winter season usually sets in a palette of dark, subdued and saturated color. Breaking out from the usual is essential when it comes to clothes. This season, playing with print, texture and proportion seems ideal. The world of greys paired with pop colors, hairy textures of mohair and cashmere and multiple prints sets the tone for this season. Proportion runs the industry, from the anti-fits to skinnies, from the oversized to the perfect fits.

Paying attention to what one chooses is important. Choice of print, color, proportion and texture vary depending on multiple aspects. Try multiple options and come to a refined conclusion that supports your confidence and inner persona, along with a well selected scent that helps enhance the entire look- keeping concepts of functionality and aesthetics while making day to day choices. The shop guide follows, so you'll know just where to get the looks from.

Look # 1 | JUMP ON THE PRINT EXPRESS

{Pictured | Trench Coat, BURBERRY; Geometric Print Shirt, MARNI; Cloud Print Shirt, KENZO; Abstract Print Shirt, H&M; Skinny Jeans, H&M}

Allover prints rule the runway. The three shirts show varied types of allover prints. A seventies geometric print, soft edged picture print and an abstract, vertically aligned print. All three give different results, the geometric and the abstract print are ideal to look thinner. Pairing these shirts with classic skinny jeans and a nylon trench coat should keep you at the edge.

Look # 2 | A HINT OF METALLIC

{Pictured | Mohair Sweater- H&M; White Shirt- COS; Trousers- MARNI; Shoes- Dr. Martens}

Hints of metallic colors is another big hit for the season. It may come to use while choosing accessories like reflective sunglasses, jewelry or in this case, shoes.

Pairing it with dark winter tones is an easy option.  The complete look includes a perfect fit high neck mohair sweater, a slim band collar white shirt and classic champagne colored pleated trousers.

Look # 3 | BRING OUT THE OUTERWEAR

{Mohair Jumper- COS; White Tshirt- H&M; Wool Muffler- D&G; Trousers- BERSHKA; Shoes- PRADA; Perfume- BLEU DE CHANEL}

A black jacket  is a classic must-have for every winter season. A wool felt or double face cashmere coat-jacket is ideal to pair with every look. It completes every aspect, increases the aesthetic value and adds functionality. A comfortable day and night look keeps you on the go. The heavy knit wool muffler is another essential item; it plays both roles - that of functionality and aesthetic. The neutral color can be paired with multiple shades.

Look # 4 | THE QUINTESSENTIAL DOWN JACKET

{Denim Shirt- PULL & BEAR; Basic T-shirt- H&M; Down Jacket- D&G; Trousers- BERSHKA}

This casual look  supports a freestyle attire, with a micro polka dot denim print shirt over a basic white tshirt, along with a down filled, fur lined hoodie jacket. This is an everyday, easy to wear look.

Look # 5 | LOGO MANIA

{Logo Jumper- KENZO; Jeans- ACNE; Shoes- PRADA; Sunglasses- & OTHER STORIES}

For the fashion lovers, this look pulls out the eccentricity within you. An oversized logo sweatshirt with the perfect blue jeans, reflective double frame glasses and the most-wanted fringed shoes. This is an ideal, easy to wear street look.
