Bowjob is a cinematic, eclectic, experimental, audio-visual experience initiated by the Goa-born, Mumbai-based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and music producer, José Neil Gomes. Bowjob's music is evocative, introspective, meditative, yet wild and avant-garde at the same time. The music process of the set-up is simple, yet, intricate- lots of violin parts interwoven and looped to produce a harmonically rich string section part, which when fused with the synth, bass and drums, produces a sound that is melodically soothing, harmonically dense, and rhythmically exciting. José Neil will be joined by two versatile, experienced collaborators for this very special performance at Depot48, Shantanu Sudarshan on drums and Harshit Mishra on bass José Neil Gomes - vocals, guitars, violin, synth, effects Harshit Misra - bass Shantanu Sudarshan - drums About José Neil Gomes: José first played a violin at the age of 10, and has since been wildly unfaithful to it with 20 other instruments. He studied philosophy and then journalism, and is now a professional musician—clearly, survival in a materialistic world is not one of his priorities. At less than 30 years of age, he has played at festivals, concert halls, pubs and corporate events in more than 100 cities across the world, including prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall (London) Nokia Theater (Los Angeles), Town Hall (New York), Apollo Hammersmith (London), Birmingham Philharmonic, etc. and has played at every possible independent venue and festival in India. Established as one of India’s finest artists across genres, Gomes has shared the stage with several top commercial acts and he also freelances with independent musicians such as Hipnotribe, Boombay Djembe Folas, and Vasuda Sharma. He has a songwriting project called Stitch In Nine.
