Event Info

Frogfest, a unique festival that celebrates frogs in Art and Nature is launching on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 6PM. Hosted by WWF-India, the festival includes an exhibition of frog artefacts to raise awareness about frogs, their diversity and their value in nature and in culture. Curated by Aditya Arya and Mamata Pandya, and displaying a collection owned by Seema Bhatt, the one-of-a-kind exhibition has over 500 frog artefacts from over 40 countries. Artists from time immemorial have been inspired by the wondrous forms, colours, sounds and sights of nature. Frogs too has been part of the repertoire of artists around the world. FrogFest showcases the amazingly diverse interpretations of the form of the frog through these incredible artefacts, crafted in a mind-boggling variety of shapes sizes, and materials—from the funky kitsch of contemporary artist to indigenous cultures. The festival will also enable people to experience the world of frogs through films, Gond art, frog quizzes, games, workshops, talks by experts, Eco-trails and more. Eminent frog researcher Dr. K.B Gururaja has contributed to the festival through his valuable photographs, videos and audios. We’re also ‘jumping with joy’ at the fact that the Frogman of India Dr. S.D Biju will be part of the FrogFest. His research and photographs on new discoveries and rediscovered species of frogs in India are a part of the exhibition! The festival will inspire, enthuse and educate visitors through interactive activities so that they are motivated to adopt the cause of conservation as their own. Frog enthusiasts and other nature lovers are also welcome to join us for the launch and tea on Monday, 15th January 2018, 6PM onwards!
