The Piano Man and Lock & Key present GIANTS OF JAZZ- DELHI ------------------------------------ Featured artist for the evening : DEVIANA (ft. Hanim Hamzah) ------------------------------------ The Indonesian Music Professor & Concert Pianist Prof. Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah has spent a great deal of her life abroad (36 years) particularly in Japan, Thailand, Germany & Switzerland, to embark on the Music world as an artist with several record albums, pianist, vocalist, arranger, composer, conductor and Music educator. Deviana is a German Music graduate and with a long list of skills, she returned to Indonesia in early 2000 and founded Institut Musik Daya Indonesia (IMDI), the first Music Academy with European Union standardized curriculum. IMDI is partner school of University of Arts, Design & Music (HKDM), Freiburg – Germany. As a classical concert pianist Deviana performed at various concerts in Germany & Switzerland and as a jazz pianist with her Trio, she performed at numerous International Jazz Festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festvial, Stuttgart Jazz Open, Grand Lancy Jazz Geneva, to name a few. She received prestigious awards such as “The Best Music Educator” by the Freiburg Mayor – Germany and honored with the title “the Lightness of Being”. 1977 - 1979 5 times 1st winner of the National Jazz & Pop Band competitions in Germany 1982 – 1983 2 times 1st winner of the National Swiss Vocal Competition 1997 1st winner of Jazz & RnB Contest in Switzerland with New Grace featuring Rhonda Dorsey (USA) & Sharon Harris (USA) and the German Professors Band Deviana is currently active as professor for arranging/orchestration, piano, history of performing arts and performing arts management in Jakarta and as the head of the Indonesian creative team working on Indonesia Performing Arts collaboration with Germany, Australia, USA and UK. Deviana considers the performance at The Piano Man with the Indian fellow musicians as the beginning of the future regular collaboration between India and Indonesia. ....................................................................... This time Deviana will be playing pop-jazz repertoire with her Malaysian friend HANIM HAMZAH who’s a singing corporate lawyer and regional Asia Manager along with her Indonesian fellow musicians Arief Yuliandra, Double Bass and Wahyu Prastya, Drums.
