LiveBox is an initiative by SkillBox to showcase music and different forms of art in the best way that they can be presented to create unforgettable experiences for artists and audiences, alike. This is an effort to build a community around the highest production values, bringing together the best talent and create an unparalleled platform for performing arts.
For the first edition of LiveBox, we have curated a line-up of artists from multiple genres and languages.
Donn Bhat + Passenger Revelator (Mumbai) - Donn Bhat is a music producer/songwriter/guitarist based out of Mumbai. He played at different festivals in Sweden, Norway, Estonia and the UK as a guitar player/producer for Orange Street. From 2011 to 2014, Donn collaborated with different musicians and genres to make what now is the band ‘Donn Bhat + Passenger Revelator.’ His collaborators include Suhail Yusuf Khan on Sarangi, Malabika Brahmo, a Baul singer from Kolkatta (also a One Beat alumnus), Ashhar Farooqi (Toymob) a singer-poet, and Anand Bhagat on Percussion.
The culmination of this was the album “Passenger Revelator” in 2014.
In October 2016 Donn released his 3rd and latest album “Connected” which explores the increasingly complex relationship between technology and the human condition. The album has been voted the best indie album of 2016 on multiple platforms.
“Connected” won the best Electronic Album Award at the Radio City Freedom Awards.
Donn’s soundscape cannot be limited to a genre and is aimed at finding a space that harnesses experimental song/lyric-driven music. Donn has been actively performing with his band at various domestic festivals such as the NH7, Ziro Festival (2013/2016) Magnetic Fields (2013/2015). They’ve travelled overseas to perform at the Galle Music Festival (Sri Lanka) in 2014, Sakifo Festival (Reunion Islands) in 2015 and the prestigious Glastonbury Festival (United Kingdom) in 2015.
Fopchu (Delhi) - Fopchu is a blend of live instruments and electronic music that tip-toes across various genres like Jazz/Hip-Hop/Blues/Pop. Their sounds anthropomorphise the spirit of one’s innate farm animal, and redirects productive thought into inebriatedly profound gooforia. Band members Kaizad Nariman (Vocals/guitars/fx), Shantam Khanna (Synth/Drum machines/fx/vocals), Siddhant Subs (Synth/bass/vocals/fx) create songs of satire which provide a grand sonic pleasure.
Kum Chirui (Karbi Anglong/Delhi) - Kum Chirui is an expression of the thoughts, ideas, hopes and aspirations of a bunch of guys who have been friends for more than two decades.
Hailing originally from Karbi Anglong in Assam, the band was formed in Delhi in early 2017 by members also playing in other bands in the Delhi circuit (Dreamscapade, Trancemigrate , Edit).
It was formed out of the experiences of growing up together, listening to the same music, learning an instrument, being self-aware and conscious of cultural identity while still being part of a greater universe. The band sings in English and its native language, Karbi. But, the members try to compose music that is understandable in all languages.
