---------------- Max Clouth Clan : ---------------- The Max Clouth Clan's unique sound stems from the custom build Lotus guitar (by Philipp Neumann), and the exquisite blend of fusing jazz with Indian classical music elements. Max Clouth Clan has been awarded the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship, one of the most prestigious awards for Jazz musicians in Germany. In 2011, Max Clouth released his first solo CD. Titled simply “Guitar”, it presents his distinctive approach to Spanish, Indian, and Baroque music, all arranged for and performed on solo acoustic guitar. Featuring music recorded in Mumbai, which had attracted the guitarist from Frankfurt who, having been fascinated by John McLaughlin’s bands Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti, sought to plunge deeper into the world of Ragas and Talas of Indian classical music. The Times of India praised the 23-minute long album as “great fusion”; The composer’s take: “Western music with an Indian vibe”, which he now tries to take to higher spheres through his electric Max Clouth Clan. “Return Flight” is the title of that quartet’s first album, a title that has multiple meanings for Clouth – literally flying, escape and all it implies, back and forth. About the Musicians : Max Clouth : Guitar Max Clouth, born in Frankfurt/Main in 1985, studied Jazz guitar at the Musikhochschule Mainz and "Worldmusic" at the C.M. von Weber Musikhochschule Dresden. Subsequently, he learnt with Pt Nayan Ghosh at Sangit Mahabharati Music School Mumbai and Guitar Prasanna at Swarnabhoomi Music Academy. In 2015 he was nominated for the Burghausen Jazz Prize and released his highly acclaimed album "Return Flight" on German major label L R/Bellaphon. www.maxclouth.com Andrey Shabashev : Keys Andrey is a professional pianist and composer and currently lives in Frankfurt. As a graduate of the jazz program of the renowned sibling Gnessin music academy in Moscow, he was early influenced by music by Bill Evans, Ray Charles, but also electronic-contemporary sounds such as Moloko, Radiohead - these influences are wonderfully combined in his own music. In addition to hundreds of concerts on the stages of Europe, he is also a sought-after studio musician and arranger with experience in different styles and also synthetic key instruments. Martin Standke : Drums Martin began his musical education with playing the piano at the age of eight and discovered his interest for the drums some years later. He studied music education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt and at the same time at the Cologne University of Music, majoring in jazz drums. He has been a member of three different bands all of which achieved the "Scholarship Jazz" of the City of Frankfurt and he also received the Hessian Jazz Award 2016 with his band "Contrast Trio".
