About the workshop: Over the years, Katha’s workshops have brought children closer to the world of stories. This year, we are beginning summers with a dash of magic and colour. All of us like to take detours from our daily life, don’t we? What better way to go on a journey to lands unknown than through STORIES! Katha brings to the children a fun workshop by Kamal Pruthi that will open their eyes to the nuances of the beautiful but dying art of storytelling. About Kamal Pruthi: Kamal Pruthi is a world-renowned performance storyteller. Known popularly as the ‘Kabuliwala’, he adopted this identity from Tagore’s famous character by the same name but moulded it into a more universal figure. Pruthi is a trendsetter in his field, and started out his theatrical career in 1999 from Delhi. Thereon, he won several recognitions such as the South Asian fellowship in 2014 for excellence in the field of Arts management and the Polska theatre fellowship from Poland in 2015. In 2012, he had started the Museum Theatre Company and more than a 100 artists have worked in MTC under his guidance. As a performer, he has performed in 6 languages—Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, English, German and Kannada. Kamal is a guest faculty on Storytelling at several Delhi colleges, and teaches Drama in schools and NGOs.
