A Dramatised Reading Of Kallo - A Story Of Two Women Set In Pre-Partition India

What Makes It Awesome

Set in a small UP town in pre-partition India, Kallo is a story about two women rejected by society who find solace in each other. The protagonists - Kallo & Mushtari Bano - rediscover meaning in their lives after they begin living together. Written by Urdu author Sameena Nazeer, this tale is reminiscent of the era of Ismat Chughtai which similarly explored female desire as it played out. Fouzia Dastango's flair for the Urdu language adds the right chutzpah to savour the times.
