What Is It?

WomenWeave is back at The Lodhi for a two-day annual handloom exhibition-cum-sale where you can lay your hands on beautiful handwoven khadi.

The saris, stoles, dupattas and yardages are made by women from rural India at their Gudi Mudi Khadi school. The initiative wholeheartedly supports women who are differently-abled, divorced, widowed or the sole bread winners of the family. They are taught the essential spinning and weaving skills so they are adept at making these fabrics without using any power source at all.

Who Is It For?

Those who take pride in wearing handspun clothes for sure.

It should also be of great interest for people who support sustainable fashion and believe in going an extra mile for those in need.

Why Should I Go For It?

Summer will seem way less tragic when you’re dressed in organic cottons that have all been dyed using natural colours. Another reason: Your shopping bags will help empower more than 240 women from rural India who are slowly walking towards financial independence.

The Womenweave collection gathered a lot of love when it showcased at the recent Amazon India Fashion Week and now, it’s making its way to the Lodhi so you can drop by for a look-see-shop. If you need any more proof of how stunning this sustainable range is, know that designers and fabric enthusiasts from all over throng to Womenweave’s handloom school to learn weaving techniques.

Anything Else?
