When you read hostel, your first thought is bunk beds and shared bathrooms but not this hostel. Antony’s Eco Houseboat Hostel is a truly one-of-a-kind property (if you can call it that) on the backwaters of Alleppey in Kerala. This houseboat was constructed by the eponymous Antony who made this eco-friendly boat with “reclaimed materials, sweat and love.”
If you’re looking for a getaway where you can sit back and really relish in the beauty of nature, it’s the perfect place to unwind. Did we mention the view? Because let’s talk about the view! You can witness the magic of the sunrise and sunset while overlooking the backwaters and we can’t think of a dreamier thing to witness. It makes for a really nice romantic getaway, too, where it’s just you, your S.O. and the beautiful skies. Definitely take advantage of the terrace where you can sip on some coffee and watch the views!
The rooms are adorably rustic with a charm that only comes with all-wood everything decor. They’ve got all the basic amenities like room service, a kitchenette, flat-screen TV and even an in-house restaurant. There’s also a lot of attractions you can check out like Alleppey Lighthouse, Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple and some really good cafe options, too! We love that it’s solar powered, by the way!
A room here generally costs upwards of INR 9,000 plus taxes so it’s definitely not priced like a typical hostel (‘cause it isn’t one!).
