Soft Girl Aesthetic But Desi: Recreate Anushka Sharma's Wedding Lehenga Look!

Anushka surprised us all six years ago with a wedding look that was unique, flamboyant, and not red. Sabyasachi brides prefer red because the designer creates the most whimsical red lehengas with the most exquisite gold embroidery. Anushka, on the other hand, ditched the red in favour of a soft pink, which has ignited minimal bridal trends all over the world. With its powder pink hue and understated embroidery, Anushka's stellar wedding look felt like a breath of fresh air. The hand-embroidered lehenga featured Indian lotus motifs as well as European flora and fauna, giving an Indian wedding in Tuscany the best of both worlds.

Her lehenga was handcrafted by the house of Sabyasachi using silk floss, gold and silver 'tilla' work, and pink rhinestones called 'Renaissance' embroidery. The lehenga was said to have cost around nine lakh rupees and took 32 days and 67 karigars to complete. And, while we loved everything about it, we would like to pass on the nine lakh price tag. So, here are five brands with similar lehengas that we found to get the look without breaking the bank.

Basanti Kapde Aur Koffee

This lehenga from Basanti Kapde Aur Koffee is pale gold in colour but features colourful floral embroidery done with resham, thread work, zari and sequin embroidery for similar pastel feels as Anushka's wedding lehenga. We love how the pink lotus and orange flora motifs pop against the subtle gold which lends it a shiny background, thanks to the reflective sequins. Also, the three-quarter sleeves make the blouse look more polished and sophisticated while the sweetheart neckline gives it a trendy touch, perfect outfit for a bridesmaid wanting to wear a not-so-traditional lehenga.

Odette

Odette is one of the few brands affordable homegrown which is always on top of trends. We spotted this gorgeous georgette lehenga and were instantly reminded of Anushka's wedding lehenga because of the pink and blue floral threadwork embroidery. While Odette's lehenga is embroidered with dori, zarkan and thread work on soft net fabric, the florals do give you the same vibe as Anushka's. The colour's slightly on the warmer side, a beautiful light peach which would look fabulous for a day function like mehendi or haldi.

Kalki Fashion

Powder Pink Lehenga Set

â‚ą19900

Loved Anushka's lehenga's floral concept but loathe wearing heavy embroidered clothes? This lehenga from Kalki is just the perfect in-between for you! It has ample of flora and fauna because of the vibrant print and tasteful minimal bling brought by the zardosi detailing which goes well with the breezy silhouette. The gota work on the hem and dupatta looks stunning paired with the blush pink colour and silver latkans. What's more to love is that Kalki offers free customisations so you don't have to worry about ill-fitting ethnic clothes by any chance.

Angad Singh

Shantoon Embroidery V Neck Lehenga

Shantoon Embroidery V Neck Lehenga

â‚ą98500
This lehenga from Angad Singh boasts almost identical embroidery as Anushka's Sabyasachi attire. The embroidery with all-over floral motifs is done from nine silken threads, cutdana, sequin and dabka work, the same embroidery concoction as Anushka's wedding lehenga. The colour of the lehenga is slightly more on the pinker side while Anushka's is in a slightly lighter hue but apart from that, this lehenga has everything to qualify as a dupe. If you want to wear the similar thing without spending nine lakhs, then this one's your best bet!

Seema Gujral

Beige Net V Neck Floral Applique Lehenga

Beige Net V Neck Floral Applique Lehenga

â‚ą118000

This net lehenga from then ace designer Seema Gujral has applique flowers embroidered all-over which look quite similar to Anushka's lehenga. The pinks, greens and beige florals look absolutely enchanting against the ivory net and the lehenga looks like something straight out of a (desi) fairytale. The metallic detailing on the flowers give the lehenga the perfect amount of OTT, perfect for a show-stopping bride's reception look. The INR 1,180,00 price might ick you a bit but we'd argue that it's better than nine lakhs.
