Arriba Mexican Grill & Tequileria Is Now Open: Here's The First Look

It was a few months back that we heard that Delhi is getting a new Mexican restaurant, and we wondered; is this it? Despite our city’s thriving food scene, the one thing we seriously lack is a good Mexican eatery. So when Arriba opened its doors to the public and started taking reservations, we were probably the first ones to call them!

Must Eat

Fresh Guacamole, served with crispy nachos. We were hoping it would be made fresh on our table {as they had been promoting it}, but we will not hold it against them, as it was their first day.

Must Drink

Jalapeño infused tequila shots—they are extremely potent and give you just the kick you need after a long day. They sent us in a happy tizzy much sooner than we were expecting.

Lowdown On The Ambience

The restaurant is located in the same spot as the Indian restaurant Angeethi used to be. Seating is available both indoors and outdoors. The décor, while retaining the white walls of its previous occupant, is very colourful—think brightly coloured seating, beautiful glass lanterns, dim lighting and geometric prints.

What's On The Menu?

The menu is so brimming with various food options to please all types of food lovers—vegetarians, chicken-lovers or pork aficionados—that no one can complain. The alcohol list is extensive, to say the least. True to to its ‘tequileria’ tag {thank you for teaching us a new word and concept, BTW}, it offers tequila in every form imaginable—from margaritas, shots, and cocktails to even popsicles! There is enough variety to have you keep coming back here for more.

We ordered a good mix of veg and non-veg dishes, and were impressed by their freshness and flavours. This article would not be complete without raising our glasses to their freshly prepared guacamole, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that it was the best we have eaten in Delhi. We were also given complimentary Tequila shots infused with watermelon and jalapeño. Suffice it to say; one shot is enough for the faint-hearted among us.

The service is friendly, polite and efficient, and the servers were able to clarify any questions we had about the food.

What We Loved

We loved the personal touch they added to our table, especially the plaque with our name on it waiting on the table as soon as we arrived. We looked around, and sure enough, there was one on all the tables around us. It was a nice gesture, and went a long way in making us feel super special.

Arriba has one of the most exhaustive tequila menus we have seen, which is clear not just from the endless number of drinks on offer, but also from the sheer variety of brands they have in stock.

What Didn't Impress Us

The food portions—we wish they were bigger.

What Is The Best Time To Visit?

The outdoor seating is perfect for a romantic evening out or a relaxed dinner with friends or family.

P.S. They’re now open for lunch too!
