Close to Chandigarh, visiting the Aura Pottery Studio is your chance at taking a tiny (and relatively less controversial than that Ladakh trip) step towards solo travel. If you enjoy getting your fingers stained with paints and a lovely pool to chill in, plan a visit to this three acres of bliss. We also see a pond and the chance to kick back with the artist family that owns this gorgeous bungalow.
If you’re looking to reconnect with your creative self or just spending a night or two away from your weekend gang and typical going-out scenes, this will be a good break. The rooms are around a courtyard and the breezy, artsy feeling that this retreat exudes is comforting like a bear hug.
When at Aura you can write those dreamy thoughts down as you sit by the pond and walk around the orchard at dusk. In any case, we think afternoons are best spent in the hammock or painting in the cosy studio. Truth be told, there really isn’t that much if you seek a lot of activity on a vacation but if you’d rather amble about and not do a thing, take a bus already.
This artist house is half and hour away from Chandigarh so if you’re visiting relatives there totally go ahead an extend that stay to accommodate this. You’re free to carry your favourite bag of chips and alcohol and we like that the art studio’s open to everyone who thinks there’s an artist/potter in them.
As for the programs, the 'Long Stay Pottery Retreat' is priced at INR 17,500 for one week (meal and stay included), and the it goes higher as per the number of the weeks.
