If you can't go to Pondicherry or more specifically Auroville, let Auroville come to you. The namesake e-store is a hidden gem that we discovered while browsing online for some local handmade decor pieces. Think of the website as an extension of the Auroville store inside Auroville, so essentially you will get all the products that are crafted, manufactured, and even grown in Auroville. Browse through the Auroville website and you'll find they have everything from clothing & accessories to food and home decor to books & stationery.
Our favourite section is the Homeware section followed by the Food section. In the homeware section, you can pick up ceramics such as coffee mugs, bowls, plates, and platters that are made by various pottery studios inside Auroville. If you are wondering, yes Mantra Pottery and Mandala Pottery products are available here. We even found Worktree's wooden products and picked up a pair of chopsticks. On to the food section, pick up anything and everything from dry fruits & nuts, trail mixes, pickles & jams, spices & oils, and even coffee & tea. We've picked up their beetroot tagliatelle pasta that's handmade apparently in the old traditional Italian way, guava jelly, and their peppers.
