Truly special. That was the first thought that crossed my mind when I learnt about Banana Studio's story. Celebrating Shaurya Mehrotra, a gifted special needs artist, this Gurgaon-based studio features beautifully crafted paintings and pottery pieces made by Shaurya and his mom Nina Mehrotra. 'The idea was to create a community where we can share Shaurya's talents and encourage others to explore pottery with us. It's all about shared learning,' says Nina who mostly helps Shaurya with setting up the space and also conducts modern pottery classes for children with special needs.
You can explore Shaurya's creations and place orders online on Instagram as well as Facebook. They have a website too featuring all of his quirky pieces like ceramic planters, plates, terracotta art, nesting trays and more. Banana Studio also offers thematic ceramic creations like ceramic rakhis, diyas and Christmas ornaments too. Shaurya loves working on heads, so you can find a lot of sculptures along with bowls, cars and animals as well. Our favourite are the lacey bowls with crystal centres - pure beauty!
