I LIKE PINK! Barbiecore Is Finally A Trend & Here's How You Build A Fit

At some point in the process of development of my frontal cortex, I was slammed in the face with the realisation that I love colours. I was, in fact, not the broody and mysterious girl, dressed in all black, with an impenetrable RBF (well, some of these still stand true) and I could actually pull off some colours. I finally fully embraced the feeling of putting on pink sneakers, yellow dresses, shiny accessories, and dress like I did as a child, unbothered by judgement.

As the patron saint of all things pink, yellow, and orange, nothing makes me happier than watching the world (Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie count as the world for some of us) embrace their inner, very pink selves — making Barbiecore 2022's biggest trend. As I type out this list of curated products that scream joy and colours, I manifest that this trend never leaves us. May we reclaim the colour we were conditioned to stop liking and to denounce, and wear pink forever (or at least on Wednesdays). If you're just getting into it yourself, here are my top, most favourite, thoroughly tried and tested picks.

Tops

My favourite part about this trend is that it doesn't matter what kind of style or aesthetic you like, playing with colours is something you can do with oversized fits just as easily as with blingy corsets. Since I have 27 personalities and oscillate between them often, here are a few options across the board that are simply superior.

Cowrie Collective is a slow fashion brand that does made-to-order and customisable, cotton tops and dresses. Their designs are fresh and flattering on all body types, and the owner is the sweetest person who will help you figure out how to style them, and make any changes if required.

We love the aptly named Raspberry Dolly, but have to wait for it to come back in stock (restocks happen every week and are updated regularly on their Instagram.

This highly impractical but unbelievably cute microbag (as the kids are calling coin-purses) by Twenty Dresses gets an honourable mention on this list. It will probably fit nothing more than the amount of patience I have for people's opinions, and maybe a lip balm, but well.
