Nykaa To Huda: The LBB Crew's Top Eyeshadow Palettes Picks Of 2022

OK, I’ll admit it. I wasn’t sure what to expect of the Nykaa eye shadow palette as thus far, I’ve only used their lip products. And boy was I impressed. In fact, I was so impressed with it, I got another variation of the Eyes On Me palette! The first buy was Tinsel Twilight which has a mix of pinks, blues, green, bronze and essentially the only 10 colours you will ever need. But when the staying power is solid, you want more! I then got the Sundowner Stunner too which is more pastel shades and less of the brown and bronze. Just be a bit careful as the box is slightly flimsy!

Why We Love It: SO MANY OPTIONS. There are three more options including Smokey At 8, Beachside Peach and Day Dreaming. Plus, for the price, it really levels up to much more expensive ones and leaves behind others in the same price category of INR 500. 

Price: INR 475 upwards

This set of 9-in-1 palettes has a lovely mix of matte and shimmer shades that suit almost every skin tone. In fact, since we have not tried it, it was great to see the swatch image of the colours on three different skin tones on the product page. I was drawn to the gentle nudes and earthy hues of this one. But if you like it a bit bright, then pick Pure Bloom, Wild And Free, or Self Love. 

Why We Want It: Well, if got some really nice colours, is vegan and cruelty-free, and if it’s Katrina Kaif’s, then we want a piece of it! 

Price: INR 1199

The eye shadow palette by M.A.C. comes in a few options, all with 9 shadow colours. But they keep changing so don’t go looking for the older versions. I have the Tropical  X 9, which has yellows, blues and greens, but there’s also the Burgundy one that keeps with gold, brown, burgundy and plum. If you like a more nude set, then pick Amber. There’s also a slightly larger palette that has 12 colours called Art Library. 

Why We Love It: With a mix of matte and glitter, these ones last long, are very compact and ideal for travel. Plus, they’re not so powdery that the eye colour is gone by the time you’ve reached the party! 

Price: INR 3,900 upwards

The Obsession palettes are a set of 9 eyeshadow colours that come in a few variations. I have the Nude and the Light ones. The Nude is my favourite because the gold, beige, nude and browns are all shimmery and glittery, so they’re muted but stand out. The Light one featuring pinks, purple, a few gold and nude is also a great option if you like to brighten up the eyes in contrast or complementary to your outfits. They are also so smooth and buttery that if you’ve forgotten your eyeshadow brush, then using your fingertips works just fine. 

Why We Love It: The colours are perfect for all kinds of skin tone. Somehow, even the pastels blend in with darker skin tones which is great as otherwise it usually looks like a mismatch.

Price: INR 2,400

If you’re quite serious about your eyeshadow and don’t mind splurging a bit, pick Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk. With a set of 12 colours, you’ll probably need only one palette in your vanity kit as the shades go from rose gold and peachy caramel to champagne pink and dusky brown. Plus, more vibrant reds and pinks too! Another mix of matte and shimmer, these ones too feel smooth and definitely don’t powder onto your skin on application.

Why We Love It: Along with plenty of users of this palette, according to Nykaa, I too find this one a must-have despite the price. It lasts long as just a little bit of the colour blends bright and easily. Plus, like the majority of the users say, “It’s absolutely stunning!”

We tried Sip Sip Hooray and the Pop, Fizz, Clink Champagne eyeshadow palettes (INR 2,200). The palettes come with 12 shades that include matte, shimmer, and glitter (large flakes) options, allowing you to create vibrant holographic looks if you please. Bold - bright, muted, matte, metallic, darker shades, peachy light ones, they have it all. If you want only one, we recommend the Sip Sip Hooray, as it has a good mix of bright, muted, matte and glitter colours. The wine-themed palette has colours like Buzzed, a muted brown, Drunk Txt, a rich chocolate brown, Mull It Over, a plum-brown, Kamikaze that is a metallic bronze and even Froze a pink-gold duochrome shade. 

Why We Love It: The powder shadows, to our happiness, are not flaky, and while they seem quite light and dusty, they stick on a long while, and even the lighter shades last long. 

LBB Tip: A few colours don’t show on the skin as they do on the palette, so give it all a try to see how it looks on your skin tone before using it.

This country, and I, have always been fans of Lakme. Mostly because they are truly made for Indians! I have used - and finished - the Lakme Absolute Infinity Midnight Magic eye shadow palette, and I ABSOLUTEly love it. This one set has a range of colours that are not themed but all-encompassing. From earthy brown to ocean green, this is one of those all-colour ones. That said, for more focused colours, there’s the Coral Sunset, Pink Paradise, Soft Nudes. 

Why We Love It: It suits most skin tones, and even with the most vibrant colours, it doesn’t look OTT. It genuinely blends well.

Price: INR 995

This one is on the list because a whopping 10,000 folks have rated it at 4.1/5 on Nykaa! Besides, when I did try it, thanks to a friend, it was quite a good one. The Blushed Nudes palette is a mix of glitter, shimmer and just a few mattes, but stay on for a long while. Unfortunately, this one really does need the eye shadow brush, but since it’s quite compact, it can easily fit into your handbag. What I liked about this set is that it shares a few tips on the colour combinations you can use, and it’s so well picked, you can mix and match the colours. The colours are a bit on the lighter side, so you might want to do a heavy layering when you apply it. 

Why We Love It: The colours come smoothly onto the skin and blend well. And for the price, it’s a great option. Plus, Maybelline is always a crowd favourite!
