Japanese dining has long captivated the taste buds of Indians; from sushi to bento boxes, we have accustomed our palates to the diversity of Japanese cuisine. But if you are one of us who has trouble navigating through the entire menu and would like the chef to make things easier for you, you have almost certainly stumbled upon the concept of Omakase (and just did not know it).

Omakase quite literally means, “I leave it to you” in Japanese and have become all the rage in recent times. Omakase bars are based on the Japanese concept where the chef curates the meals for the guests which can include dishes both on and off the menu.

What we love is that essentially, the dish remains a surprise for the guests until it reaches their table. Not a trend for the fainthearted but definitely a welcome change from monotonous dinner routines.

If you have a bunch of friends who keep passing the menu along but cannot decide on a drink or like me, find comfort in experimenting with drinks that have a ‘you’ factor, you must try these top 7 Omakase bars in India, across Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi
